We've been watching Elle Masgalos of THE STYLE SKETCHBOOK very closely (on instagram) for some time now. Her monochromatic, minimal, comfortable approach to dressing, with outfits consistently featuring sneakers, loose fitting pieces, current season favourites and a gamut of wardrobe staples, makes getting dressed look simple. We recently invited Elle to compile a STYLE post in collaboration with NEST (above), and the results are very true to her signature aesthetic and ours.
Originally hailing from Aveiro, Portugal, Elle has been living in Shanghai, China for the past year and a half, and has no plans to move. She says, "I had been travelling here for work for many years and always thought it was such an amazing culture and fast growing city, so when I had an offer from my company to move here I didn't think twice."
Currently working as a product developer/collection designer, Elle is, by trade, a fashion designer and trend analyst. Having started her site THE STYLE SKETCHBOOK in 2009, Elle prefers not to call herself a 'blogger'. Unlike many other fashion bloggers who seek promotion and publicity Elle has remained seemingly undiscovered and prefers to keep her audience small. Choosing to share as frequently as she feels inspired, "I just post about what I truly like, I don't usually accept collaborations or publicity offers from brands I don't like. I don't do publicity. The collaboration with NEST for example is because I really love what you do and I believe in the project."
One of the other features we enjoy about THE STYLE SKETCHBOOK is Elle's ability to move within her chosen surrounding, frequently choosing buildings with architectural merit to stage her photographs. It also helps that Elle's husband is a photograher, "my husband loves photography especially analog photography and has quite an obsession for vintage cameras." We think Elle Masgalos is the one to watch.
