Of late, both Sanam and I have been completely captured by the fashion illustration work of multi-talented Sydney-based illustrator, artist and writer Belle Langford of HELLA BLISSED:
'Langford’s illustrations have been commissioned by brands including Karla Špetić, The Base by Lara Bingle, Alice McCall, Loving Earth and Impulse Fragrances. Her writing has appeared in Cosmopolitan Australia and online at Elle Australia and La Garconne. Her blog Hella Blissed – founded in 2011 – is an industry insider-favourite, a place of retreat for Langford where she can share her original illustrations and works of creative non-fiction.
Languid and romantic, Langford’s illustrative style is distinguished by its lush colour palette and crisp detail. Using watercolour, ink, digital manipulation and mixed-media, her illustrations are arrestingly cinematic. In prose, Langford makes sumptuous and soulful her personal experiences and thoughts. Drawing from a rich world of poetry, literature, art theory and history, Langford writes in a style that is all her own. ' - HELLABLISSED.COM
We recently asked Belle if she would be interested in illustrating one of our favourite editorials exclusively for NEST - ANNA EWERS shot by Josh Olins for VOGUE PARIS, October 2013. The results are just as we suspected; minimal, wholly expressive, thoughtfully controlled and completely encapsulate the timeless beauty of Anna Ewers and the very essence of French dressing at its best.
