[ ART ] AI WEIWEI at THE MUSEUM OF CYCLADIC ART in ATHENS, GREECE

A I   W E I W E I   a t   C Y C L A D I C  |   A beautiful curation of works by contemporary artist and activist Ai Weiwei is currently on exhibit at the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens, Greece. A catalyst in his own right Ai Weiwei is a man of cultural and social importance, often challenging thought and provoking conversation with an underlaying narrative of political activism throughout his works. Conceptually complex yet visually accessible and engaging, it's through his modernist approach to story telling that the depth of his work is so clearly and effectively communicated.

Ai Weiwei at Cycladic, now through October 30th, 2016.

[ ART ] 'SHAPE TRANSMISSION' - CERAMICS AND DESIGN INTERPRETED IN MOVEMENT, A COLLABORATION BETWEEN NO. AND ATELIER DE GESTE

A performance born out of a conversation between ceramicist Romy Northover of NO. and designer, choreographer and artist Beau Rhee of ATELIER DE GESTE on how movement is translated through ceramics:

"The installation/performance is about exploring the expansive relationship of ceramics and space. We are opening up the movements of the process, the shapes and angles made by the body while working clay. In ceramics you can see the presence of the artist's hand in the piece, as a solidified imprint of movement and gesture. In both dance and ceramics there is a discipline in the practice, applying the right balance of control and freedom of form. The work extends outside of the finished piece - it's a live process from conception, through making, to the presence it has in the space it inhabits."

[ DESIGN ] 'I DREAM OF LUXURY' THÉVOZ - CHOQUET FOR NOV GALLERY

T H É V O Z   -  C H O Q U E T |  With their latest collection, London based designers Virgile Thévoz and Josephine Choquet translate Nov Gallery's open call to emerging designers to 'reinterpret their dream of tomorrow's luxury' into stunning cast brass and resin objects. Showing now at Rossana Orlandi in Milan, 'the collection explores the effect of time on the value of an object. The polished brass accessories are half-cast in transparent resin blocks, allowing the exposed metal to oxidize over time and cast half to remain pristine and shiny forever.'
